Discount supermarket Aldi is adding Whisky to its long list of prize winning alcohol. After one of its most popular Rosés took out a silver medal last year, its range of spirits are now in the spotlight.
On show at the Spirits Business Scotch Whisky Masters, judges awarded two gold medals to the Highland Black Scotch Whisky as well as the Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky. The Highland Black has hints of heather, strawberry leaf, and lemon oil with the Islay harbouring “fresh and zesty” notes, retailing for $28 and $34.99 respectively.
The results are not surprising, with Aldi’s drink range winning a total of 77 accolades in 2017 as well as being awarded the “Own Brand Spirits Range of the Year” title at the International Spirits Challenge last year.
Other whisky’s that were also awarded on the day include Kilchoman Machir Bay and Glen Scotia 18 Year Old. Check out Aldi’s Award winning spirts here.
