Last Thursday saw a historic movement in the fashion industry as streetwear and luxury fashion combined, courtesy of Artistic Director Virgil Abloh. Appointed as the new menswear steward of Louis Vuitton, Abloh debuted a range of relaxed tailoring, sportswear shaping and utility garments. Of key note was the range of accessories and key pieces that will soon become new cult items.

From the glasses, bags and shoes, colours ranged from pale green to fire red thoughout collection. Functionality was a key component on the runway with built-in pouches, zippers and pull tabs incorporated into many pieces, while chunky eye wear anchored the busy looks. Structured bags featured porcelain chains as well as the brand’s iconic monogramming, while hands-free storage came in the form of utility vests.

As expected the footwear did not disappoint sneaker-heads, finishing off every look. Reminiscent to Abloh’s earlier collaborations with sportswear labels, high-top basketball silhouettes were featured in a range of minimalistic colour-ways to off-set the overall avant-garde aesthetic of the collection.
