As the seasons shift, so too should your fragrance rotation. Think of scent as you do your outfit. Each moment, each occasion, calls for a different mood and a different aura. There are the crisp, airy scents that suit daytime freshness, the deeper, bolder ones reserved for the evening, the light florals of spring, the sunlit notes of summer, and, of course, the rich, enveloping fragrances of autumn.

Autumn carries its own palette of warm woods, crackling spice, ambered sweetness, and earthy depth. It is the season where fragrances become more textured, more layered, more intimate.

With that in mind, we have curated the ultimate guide to help you select the perfect scent for fall.

Almost Dawn – BOTTEGA VENETTA

Bottega has recently launched a new trio fragrance, “Mezzanotte,” which means midnight in Italian. The collection aims to evoke the richness of the night and draw on BV’s Italian/Venetian heritage. They are Goodmorning Midnight, Hinoki and Almost Dawn. transitional, in-between spaces of night, each scent maps a different mood of darkness shifting into light.

The bottles are made from mouth-blown glass, with a groovy texture that feels like it belongs in your hand. The design aesthetic draws heavily from Venetian craft, especially Murano glassblowing, and materials used in Venice’s palazzi and churches.

As for the scent, the most autumny of the trio, is Almost Dawn. The key notes are chestnut warmth, cosy sweetness, and earthy truffle, echoing fallen leaves and seasonal richness.

HERO – Burberry

Burberry’s Hero finds its stride in autumn. In its Eau de Parfum and Parfum iterations, the fragrance sheds the breezy brightness of summer for something deeper, more enveloping. Pine needles and spice open with the crispness of a brisk morning, before incense, olibanum, and benzoin fold in a smoky warmth that lingers like golden light on turning leaves. Anchored by a trio of cedars, Hero balances freshness with depth, evoking the earthy air of forests in transition.

If the Eau de Toilette is a scent for open horizons, the richer concentrations are distinctly autumnal, made for shorter days, cooler nights, and the quiet strength that comes with the season’s change.

Bleu de Chanel L’Exclusif – Chanel

In Bleu de Chanel L’Exclusif, Chanel pushes the iconic Bleu DNA into richer, more enigmatic terrain. Olivier Polge reimagines the signature men’s blue with a dense, extrait-like intensity that leans firmly into woods, amber, and leathery nuances. New Caledonian sandalwood takes centre stage, while cistus labdanum injects resinous mystery. The scent is at once ambery, woody, and aromatic, warm, but never heavy, magnetic without forsaking freshness.

Timber – AMOUAGE

Amouage has recently introduced Opus XVI – Timber, the latest jewel in its revered Library Collection, a fragrance that celebrates the enduring wisdom of nature. Inspired by the monumental sequoias of California and the sacred frankincense trees of Oman, Timber is a towering, almost architectural olfactory experience. Crafted by Alexis Grugeon, it opens with bright, aromatic notes of cypress, cardamom, and juniper, lifting the senses with a sense of clarity and forward-thinking energy. At its heart, lavandin, fir balsam, and Hojari frankincense lend bracing depth, while the base of palo santo, sandalwood, cedarwood, patchouli, and a whisper of vanilla bourbon grounds the fragrance in timeless authority. Monumental yet approachable, Opus XVI – Timber is a tribute to ancient knowledge and the promise of wisdom yet to be discovered. A perfectly woody, enveloping scent that mirrors the crisp, contemplative spirit of autumn.

LAZULIO – Diptyque

Diptyque has long mastered the art of seasonal scenting, their candles becoming synonymous with the warmth and depth of autumn. That same craftsmanship and devotion to rare, unexpected ingredients now extends seamlessly to their fragrances, most recently with Lazulio, the newest creation in the Maison’s Les Essences de Diptyque collection.

Conceived by perfumer Quentin Bisch and inspired by the peacock feather, Lazulio is an invitation into elegance and majesty. Its name nods to lapis lazuli, the semi-precious stone whose crystalline blues mirror the feather’s mysterious, iridescent beauty.

The fragrance unfolds with the lively brightness of tangy rhubarb, softened by the creamy, balsamic richness of benzoin that wraps the scent in a cocoon-like warmth, perfect for crisp autumn air. Haitian vetiver introduces earthy, citrus-tinted facets, grounding the composition with a woody vibrancy, while a whisper of rose lends a refined lift.

Amber-toned and woody at its core, Lazulio strikes a balance between radiance and intensity, making it an ideal companion for fall.

OUD ZARIAN – Creed

If you’re more of an Oud-lover, Creed is the way to go. What makes Oud Zarian especially fitting for autumn is its balance of warmth, depth, and radiance. The season calls for fragrances that feel enveloping, scents that echo the shift in the air, the golden light fading into earlier evenings, and the comforting weight of layered textures.

The richness of its 80-year-aged oud (yes, you read that right) anchors the fragrance in earthy, resinous tones that mirror autumn’s grounding presence. At the same time, creamy sandalwood, smoky myrrh, and spiced accents add a cocooning warmth. Luminous bergamot and the brightness of ginger cut through with vibrancy.

CUIR NU – ARMANI

Who wouldn’t welcome the warmth of a coffee on a chilly morning? Cuir Nu translates that same comforting, enveloping sensation onto the skin. Giorgio Armani’s latest from the Les Mille et Une Nuits collection pairs supple Italian leather with the roasted, smoky warmth of coffee, creating a fragrance that feels both intimate and luxurious.

Perfumer Delphine Lebeau balances this tactile richness with a luminous rose essence, while smoky oud and ambered resins deepen the composition, adding complexity without heaviness. The leather is soft, almost pliant, the coffee note rounded and inviting, a harmony of textures that feels cozy yet sophisticated, like a quiet winter ritual distilled into scent.

MYSLF L’ABSOLU – YSL

Austin Butler loves this perfume, and so do we. MYSLF L’ABSOLU is the ultimate feel-good fragrance from YSL Beauty, radiating joy, confidence, and unapologetic energy. It transforms the signature MYSLF profile into a sparkling, vibrant experience, woody, floral, and utterly alive, capturing the exhilaration of being fully yourself.

The composition dances between contrasts: sparkling ginger and zesty green cardamom ignite the top notes, lifting the luminous vert de bergamot, while orange blossom absolute unfolds in radiant floral freshness. At its base, a lavish patchouli heart deepens the fragrance with warm, ambery sensuality, giving it an intoxicating, lingering allure.

ROSE OF NO MAN’S LAND – BYREDO

Byredo’s Rose of No Man’s Land isn’t a soft-focus rose. Pink pepper sparks, Turkish rose keeps it luminous, and amber and papyrus anchor it with quiet weight. It’s light enough for day, serious enough for night, and utterly unbothered.

Inspired by the nurses of World War I, it carries a subtle backbone of bravery without feeling precious. The raspberry blossom adds a hint of sweetness, but the composition is all about presence. Wear it in autumn. Or spring. Or when you need a little backbone. It’s a rose with attitude, and honestly? You’ll want to wear it everywhere.

INCENSE PERFUMUM – BALENCIAGA

Balenciaga storms back into fragrance with ten new scents that refuse to sit quietly. Inspired by the house’s 1947 debut, Le Dix, the collection pairs architectural bottles with bold compositions. Each perfume feels like an attitude in a bottle, heritage meeting modernity, tradition bending toward rebellion, and a reminder that Balenciaga doesn’t do subtle.

Among the lineup, Incense Perfumum immediately stands out as the most autumnal. Its smoky, resinous heart evokes crisp fall air and flickering candlelight, with labdanum and frankincense giving it depth and warmth. It’s the kind of fragrance that wraps around you like a cashmere scarf on a chilly evening, capturing the layered, intimate essence of the season without feeling heavy or overdone.

DEVOTION – DOLCE & GABBANA BEAUTY

Dolce&Gabbana’s Devotion For Men Parfum feels like confidence in a bottle. The opening hits fresh with lavender and lemon, but that quick kick of black pepper keeps it from leaning too soft. Then comes the coffee note, rich and grounding, with cypress giving it a green edge that feels effortless rather than overly polished.

As it dries down, the warmth of vanilla and guaiac wood takes over, with a smoky touch that lingers in the best way. It’s seductive without being loud, the kind of scent that feels personal like a signature you carry with you. Fronted by actor Michele Morrone, the campaign captures that same energy: magnetic, romantic, and impossible to forget.
