Hedi Slimane’s CELINE Summer 2025 collection, “The Bright Young,” brings the English elite of the 1920s into the modern age with effortless sophistication. Tailored from reimagined summer cashmeres and wools, each piece is steeped in tradition, from cricket and boating blazers to trompe l’oeil rowing jackets, all hand-embroidered in CELINE’s couture ateliers. The collection nods to iconic figures like F. Scott Fitzgerald at Hotel Eden Roc, with white cashmere flannels evoking the golden age of cricket whites.
Beyond the tailoring, CELINE’s attention to detail is nothing short of masterful. Richelieu shoes, monks, and derbies capture the essence of 1920s English flair, while waistcoats hand-embroidered with floral motifs add a touch of opulence. Underneath the black wool tailcoats, silk faille gilets shine with “English Gothic” sequins, crystals, and pearls, recalling a lavish yet modern aristocratic sensibility. CELINE patches, crafted with polished silver cannetilles, reinforce the early 20th-century military aesthetic, an homage to British uniforms.
And, of course, no collection by Slimane would be complete without a nod to English pastimes. The film set, draped in Norfolk-cut flowers, features English black bicycles designed for CELINE, complete with wicker baskets and canoes—capturing the eccentricity and playfulness of Britain’s Bright Young Things.
