Client Liaison. Melbourne pop-duo. Party icons. Designers?

In May last year, the Melbourne band debuted their first line at the annual Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia. Whether it took you by surprise or had you secretly cheering, members Monte Morgan and Harvey Miller have expanded their creative repertoire to include a deluxe line of “high leisurewear“. And if you thought the 2018 collection was a one-hit-wonder, you’d be please to learn the eccentric pair are ready for round 2.

But why fashion?

“I guess it started from a frustration with merch. We got a bit sick of just slapping a logo on top of a t-shirt. It felt quite one-dimensional. So we expanded out into fashion where we were able to design garments from the ground up…,” the duo told ICON.

Both with an artistic background it was quite a natural transition into the industry. One that has been met with praise for its extensive design scope and bold style moves. Offering up unisex designs, kit essentials and old-school silhouettes that have received an ’80s treatment.

“…we’re quite visually inclined so it was popping up these little collections here and there. It was actually quite a large collection,” they explained. “A lot of the decision making was around items we have in our wardrobes. Extensions of that, like a vintage piece that we’ve had for our whole lives that we’ve wanted to extend upon.”

With the follow up collection almost in sight, Client Liaison will take to their hometown for the annual Virgin Australian Melbourne Fashion Festival, showcasing the current collection to fans. Set to present at Runway 7, the duo will have their threads showcased alongside other Australian ICON’s Double Rainbouu and Ten Pieces.

And for any music fanatics out there, expect plenty of new tunes from the duo in 2019.
