During the 94th edition of Pitti Uomo – a platform designed to showcase men’s contemporary fashion – COS debuted its latest collection in a live performance of explorative movement. Collaborating with Choreographer Wayne McGregor, the 17-piece menswear capsule was presented on nine dancers within the Istituto degli Innocenti in Florence.

Encapsulating the COS aesthetic – wearable and versatile, while quietly inventive – the seasonless collection features a range of shirts, pants, jackets and knits in a colour palette of white, navy and grey melange. With the concept of unconscious and unintentional movement in mind, Soma explores the way clothing sits on its wearer and how it moves through space.

“At COS we are constantly exploring and innovating, finding inspiration for our collections from every discipline of the art world, including dance. Everyday movements of clothes on the body were the starting point for Soma, and it has been an honour to see the collection come to life at Pitti Uomo through choreography,” stated Karin Gustafsson, COS Creative Director.

Another focus for the London-based company was also looking to traditional methods and new techniques to form an understated collection, designed for longevity.

Christophe Copin, who is COS Head of Menswear Design, explained further. “Soma really explores what essential menswear means for us at COS and every detail has been designed with functionality and the movement of the wearer in mind. We are delighted to have collaborated with Wayne McGregor and his company of dancers to bring the directional movement and fluidity of the menswear collection and its inspirations to life.”

The collection will be available to buy in the COS Florence store at Via della Spada from 6pm on the June 13 and then online internationally at all COS e-commercece sites in Europe, USA and South Korea on the September 6.
