“Guys, Eminem is performing,” our Fashion Editor texted during the 92nd Academy Awards. “What, that’s so random,” our Beauty Editor chimed in. “I’m so confused,” I replied to which our Fashion Editor added, “But I’m kind of into it.”

The rumours are true. During the 2020 Oscars ceremony, the real slim shady certainly stood up and performed a live rendition of his award-winning track ‘Lose Yourself’. The audience too, seemed confused by the unannounced performance while Eminem channelled his young-self with the performance, but soon enough the confused reactions from Billie Eilish, Leonardo DiCaprio among other A-lister begun to turn, appearing to vibe with the appearance. Celebrities could be seen dancing in their seats and rapping along before an overwhelming applause and standing ovation took hold of the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles – not a person left in their seat.

Shortly following the iconic performance, Eminem whose real name is Marshall Mathers took to his 27.5 million followers with a throwback. In 2003, the now-47 year-old won an Oscar for Best Original Song for ‘Lose Yourself’ in 8 Mile. He wasn’t in attendance, until 17 years later.

“Look, if you had another shot, another opportunity… Thanks for having me @theacademy. Sorry it took me 18 years to get here.”
