Placing as a finalist at the LVMH Awards last year, designer Feng Chen Wang has followed strong with the latest presentation of her Men’s Spring/Summer 2019 collection. Along with a large range of oversized silhouettes and deconstructed pieces, Wang also joined with Converse and Levi’s to launch new collaborations.

Exploring the human connection, the designer is inspired by “half”, a middle fashion and balance between different cuts and construction to create key pieces. Prismatic fabrics lend a futurist approach to the collection and a soft pastel colour palette off-sets bold pieces. Experimental in fit and design, outerwear and shirts in particular, explore new approaches to construction, incorporating a Levi’s denim jacket collaboration, combining panels of different pieces.

The overall romanticism seen throughout the collection is juxtaposed with retro sportswear, further pushed with the unveiling of Wang’s Converse collaboration. Playing on the Chuck Taylor All Star – a kit essential – the classic style has been revived for the high-fashion runway, following the same deconstructed aesthetic of the rest of the line. What looks an attempt to reassemble a broken shoe, the collab features two uppers, two lacings (on the front and back at the heel) and with double lines on the tip. Complementing the overall colour palette, the shoes are created in classic white as well as a blue and bold pink colour way.
