The wait is almost over. In June last year, IKEA and Virgil Abloh shared official imagery of its highly anticipated collaborative capsule. Featuring simple furniture pieces with the treatment of Abloh’s contemporary eye, little was known as to its release details. In the lead up to its mysterious drop, the designer has joined the Swedish powerhouse once again for its fifth Art Event Collection.

Ahead of the official launch in May, IKEA Art Event – a short-term collection that mashes-up tapestry art, rug handicraft, avant-garde fashion, street culture and modern design – the homewares giant is giving Australians the chance to win the highly coveted “KEEP OFF” rug. The collection is curated by eight leading creative figures who have all designed a contemporary rug as part of the unique, ‘woven artworks’.

So, where do you sign up? To win, Australians need to simply register and attend any of the free sessions at the IKEA SÖMN [Sleep] Studio held in Bondi on 28 March, and enter the competition.

Not surprisingly, the rug will be a rare commodity and due to popular demand, the “KEEP OFF” rug will only be available to IKEA Family members and via ballot. A draw will take place and only successful IKEA Family members will be able to purchase the rug, meaning fanatics of the Off-White brand may well miss out.
