Set for launch in 2019, Virgil Abloh and IKEA have released official imagery giving fans a look into the teams collaborative effort. Coined “MAKERAD”, the collection features a range of simple architectural pieces – a doorstop chair, a rug picturing an IKEA receipt and timber cabinet – also highlighting Abloh’s signature use of orange accents.

Currently displayed at IKEA’s Democratic Design Days 2018, Abloh introduced the collection: “I want each item to bring a sense of pride, and I want the great design to be the biggest reason why you get it.” “It’s about elevating the anonymous, everyday icons that we use without noticing.”

The release of the official images comes after the duo at Diet Prada, called out Abloh and IKEA creative leader Henrik Most for not crediting his inspiration, Paul McCobb who created the chair back in the ’50s. We’ll wait for Diet Prada’s reaction to the remainder of the collection.
