From Zendaya’s Muglar robotic suit for Dune to Margot Robbie’s iconic Barbie wardrobe, to the many green and pink gowns seen at the Wicked press tours, method dressing is the new method acting. For decades, actors have been expected to show up in classic suits and tuxedos for movie premieres, channelling the ‘sophisticated man’ no matter the film’s plot. Some actors went completely against the grain, like Alexander Scarsgård, who arrived at awards shows and premieres pantless or in thigh-high leather boots to promote Pillion, or Timothée Chalamet’s theatrical, colourful, street-style press tour for Marty Supreme

With Emerald Fennell’s forthcoming adaptation of Wuthering Heights, the costumes, designed by Jacqueline Durran, were unexpected, to say the least. Drawing on references as disparate as Princess Sissi gowns, 1990s Mugler couture, and Dolce & Gabbana–level extravagance, the looks feature glossy, red, almost latex-like fabrics. The result has sparked debate, sharply dividing opinion for privileging highly stylised, ahistorical fashion over the novel’s late-18th-century Yorkshire setting.

The off-camera costumes for the press tour were more approachable, but equally maximalist and elaborate, including Margot Robbie’s looks in 100-carat Lorraine Schwartz diamonds and snake skin corsets. The internet lost its mind over the piece of literal art the female lead wore to the Wuthering Heights world premiere, recognising it as the necklace gifted to Elizabeth Taylor by Richard Burton.

Many were quick to clarify that the so-called “Elizabeth Taylor necklace” was actually the Cartier Taj Mahal. Originally a gift from the Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahangir, to his wife, inscribed with an eternal promise in Parsee, “Love is Everlasting”, the heart-shaped pendant, crafted from jade and gold, is lavishly set with rubies and diamonds. The necklace remained in the family’s collection of Jewels, gifted by the Shah’s son, Shah Jahan, to his own wife. The promise of “everlasting” was kept, and after her death, Shah Jahan commissioned the Taj Mahal as a mausoleum for the couple. The eternal symbol of love reflects the timeless relevance of Heathcliff and Catherine’s passionate and intense relationship, written over 178 years ago.

In a very unlike Heathcliff but very Shar Jahan way, Jacob Elordi gifted Margot Robbie matching signet rings by Cece Jewellery, the jewellery designer who has become an internet sensation, adored online and beloved by celebrities from Rihanna to Gigi Hadid.

The custom-made rings feature two skeletons embraced, surrounded by roses and a quote from the Emily Brontë novel: “Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same…”

While Margot illustrates Cathy’s energetic spirit, Jacob channels Heathcliff’s reserved nature.

For a photocall, Elordi arrived in Chanel Spring 2026, decorated in Cartier “Love” and “Santos de Cartier” bracelets. Attention is immediately drawn to the vintage Cartier Tank Solo in yellow gold with a green alligator strap. This should come as no surprise, as the Australian Academy Award nominee has worn an impressive luxury watch collection overtime, including a Cartier Tank Normale and Tank Must, a vintage Rolex Bubbleback 6804, and an Audemars Piguet Bamboo Day-Date Moonphase.

The Saltburn star always wears his watches with a strap on the thinner side, largely due to his 6’5 frame that instantly draws a presence. Elordi’s fashion sense first caught attention because of his extensive and envy-worthy bag collection. He didn’t just stick to ‘masculine’ duffel bags for travel, he uses his Classic Chanel Flap, Louis Vuitton Speedy, and Bottega tote bags as daily necessities.

As someone who brings contemporary and classic pieces together, his experimentation with traditionally feminine accessories and designs makes him a generational style icon that pushes fashion boundaries. Later that evening, Elordi arrived to the World Premiere in a Heathcliff-style tailored Bottega Veneta suit and kept it simple and elegant with a single red Cartier pin.

As a Cartier Ambassador, the love affair traveled to Paris. The ensemble for the Parisian premiere after-party was once again Bottega Veneta, this time a trench coat, leather tie, and simple gold rings. Unlike many characters he has brought to life before, broody Heathcliff is not a flashy man who demands attention from anyone but Cathy. So it makes sense that Elordi’s outfits are far more reserved than his co-stars’, while still being experimental, tailored, and curated. He proves that method-dressing doesn’t always have to be grand.
