It is no secret that functional clothing and workwear are proving to be huge this season, and throwing their hat in the ring are Levi’s Made & Crafted, joining forces with Creative Director of United Arrows & Sons, Motofumi Kogi aka ‘Poggy the Man’ for a workwear capsule. Taking his expertise of contemporary fashion, the Japanese local has combined his design aesthetic on signature Levi’s pieces.
Celebrating the rising popularity of vintage clothing, Poggy looked to examples of WWII-era workwear from the Levi’s archives in San Francisco and put a creative twist on the silhouettes, inspired by film stars Steve McQueen and James Dean. As part of Fall/Winter 2018, the line consists of chore coats, overalls, hats, and button-up shirts.
“I grew up with street culture, and in the 1990s there were many great fashion magazines in Japan that I learned from. With this capsule collection, I try to combine traditional work clothes with an urban attitude, but with a vintage look,” says Poggy.
Key pieces include the “Steve McQueen” pant, classic indigo overalls and the yellow over shirt.
