On Sunday, May 25, the sacred turf of Anfield thundered with the kind of electricity only football can summon. It was the final Premier League match of the season, Liverpool’s last stand, and the atmosphere was thick with anticipation.

As the clock ticked toward full time and the team found themselves down to ten men, it was Mohamed Salah who, yet again, summoned magic. A clean strike. A powerful finish. An equalizing goal in the 84th minute that not only salvaged a crucial draw but sealed his 29th goal and 18th assist of the season. History was made in those seconds. But what many didn’t see, at least not immediately, was that Salah was carving his legacy with his feet, but also wearing it.

For the grand finale of the season, Salah stepped onto the pitch in a pair of custom-designed adidas boots, an arresting shade of emerald green with luminous gold stripes. Sleek, elegant, and deeply intentional, the boots told a story far bigger than a single game. They were a tribute to legacy. To belonging. To brilliance born in the Arab world and broadcast to the globe. They were designed by none other than Abdu Galal, another Egyptian talent making waves far from home.

Born in Cairo and now based in Nürnberg, Germany, Galal is part of a rising generation of Arab creatives shaping global culture from the inside out. A graduate of Miami Ad School Europe and now a full-time designer at adidas, his journey reflects something larger, across-continental creative vision rooted in identity, sharpened by ambition, and fearless in expression.

Titled “Wings of Liverpool,” the design features a hand-drawn Liverbird, the mythic emblem of the city that welcomed Salah with open arms and never let go. That symbol, etched with intention, is flanked by glimmering gold adidas stripes, representing legacy, triumph, and the kind of excellence you don’t chase but grow into. The boots were never intended for mass production, nor were they a product launch waiting to happen. They were a singular, personal tribute, crafted to be worn, and worn they were, in a moment that mattered.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Galal wrote:

“The boot draws from the Liverbird, the soul of the city, and Salah’s role as the iconic winger who this season has flown higher than anyone imagined. It’s a tribute. A thank you. A visual celebration of his records, his roots, and his bond with the fans.”
