Back in August this year, like many brands Mercer Amsterdam tapped NASA for a limited-edition sneaker collaboration. What was created in ultra-limited quantities made the design one of most hyped sneakers around. Now, following up on the original colourway, the luxury up-and-comer has looked back to the space program for a fresh iteration.

Inspired by Apollo-11, the original offered a fresh and futuristic white/silver colourway with this next looking to the famous Apollo-17 for design cues, while paying homage to the iconic rocket. Coined the W3RD 2.0 “Night Mission,” the collaborative kicks take on a much darker and sleek approach, even featuring special 3M detailing for a light-up effect. Along with its smooth exterior, the “Night Mission” is adorned in blue NASA branding, with the midsole displaying a silver “APOLLO XVII” engraving.

“As the first ever manned rocket launch at night, NASA’s Apollo 17 had to overcome all the challenges and inhibitions of a nocturnal mission. This was all or nothing,” said Mercer.

The sneakers are expected to retail for roughly $285 USD, and will see a release on December 14, on the Mercer Amsterdam website. According to the brand, the first five customers to order the kicks will receive an Apollo 17-inspired “MERCER REACH FOR THE STARS” carrying case.
