What do you get when you cross an Australian tennis icon with an NBA star? According to Nike, the next best technology in sportswear, and serving up new sneakers ahead of the Australian Open, is the latest Nike Vapor X ‘KYRIE 5’ silhouette.

Launching just yesterday, Nick Kyrgios and Melbourne-born Kyrie Irving joined forces to create a hybrid of the Vapor X tennis shoe and Kyrie 5 basketball shoe, which will see its first wear on the courts this week. Combining the the Kyrie 5 upper with the outsole of the Vapor X, the respective sneakers feature a Flytrap-inspired upper for a lockdown fit, the heel Zoom Air unit reinforced with high-wear areas for the hardcourt and a strong orange/white and black colourway for a bold statement on and off the court.

In honour of the collaboration, Irving debuted the basketball iteration with the Kyrie x Vapor 5 (based on Kyrgios’ Vapor) last Tuesday scoring 17 points to lead the Celtics to victory over the Nets. Along with the 2019 Nike Melbourne threads that Kyrgios will wear on the court, the player will done the fresh sneakers exclusively as he faces off against Canada’s Milos Raonic tonight in Round 128 at the Australian Open.

The hard court rendition, NikeCourt Air Zoom Vapor X Kyrie 5 is now available to shop from Nike AU. Check it out here
