LeBron James has been carving up the game recently, and after a successful year with the NBA as well as launching his own “I Promise School”, the basketball legend has once again teamed up with Nike. This time, the collaborative duo have unveiled its latest on-court shoe – the LeBron 16.

Taking elements from the earlier LeBron 15, the latest design introduces the Battleknit 2.0, an innovation of the scallop knit. Created specifically for LeBron in mind, the updated technology increases tensile strength (important to contain James’s lateral force on court), in a finish complementing the players style. Other new features include a lower collar, allowing the player to move more freely around the court, as well as gusseted leather tongue and the same Max Air cushioning platform underfoot.

“The knit team at Nike are geniuses,” Nike designer, James Petrie said in a press release. “I don’t use that term lightly. They are mathematical artists and have created a new knit for the 16 that is strong enough to contain LeBron and successfully reduces any layers in the overall build that could slow him down.”

The basketball sneaker will be available from the US site from September 20, with Australian stores seeing a release on September 29. Mark your calendars.
