Nike On Air winners

To celebrate Nike‘s “Air Max Day”, back in March of this year, the public was invited to attend a design workshop series held in Paris, London, New York, Seoul, Shanghai and Tokyo to redesign the firms most iconic silhouettes. It was here that 18 finalists were selected where Nike members then voted on their favourite styles. Announced on May 14, the six winning models were put into production workshops that eventually followed with a first round of samples.

This month, the six young designers were invited to the Nike World Headquarters in Portland to see the first samples. From page to prototypes, each winner got a first look into the finished product, that would eventually be sold to the wider public in 2019. Inspired by the Nike Air Max 1, Air Max 97, Air Max 98 and Air VaporMax Plus silhouettes, each sneaker takes design and aesthetic cues from their own cities.

From the computer mock up to tangible sneakers, take a look at each design below.
