The rumours have been vast and the speculations plenty, and after an on-foot look of the brand spankin’ new Nike React Presto late last year, the sporting giant has finally announced its drop date. Known to mash up its iconic silhouettes, the Swoosh company has combined the Presto and React for a new generation of running sneakers.

As the name suggests, the silhouette is simply a mash up of the Presto and React but is far from a reworked design of the archival models. Hitting the streets in the 2000’s, the Presto stretchy upper lent the description of a “T-shirt for the foot” and when fused with the newer technology of the React foam, its combined technology is like a match made in sneaker heaven.

For lovers of the old model, other than the technology its features remain relatively untouched. Similarly the bootie construction is replicated from the original, along with a midfoot cage and heel crash pad. The new React Presto also revives the character-based colourways of the previous designs with the Brutal Honey and Rabid Panda dropping May 9. Nike by You varieties of the React Presto that share favoured old personas including the Rogue Kielbasa, Shady Milkman and Unholy Cumulus — with space for personalisation — also arrive May 9.

New personalities for the Nike React Presto launch May 16 and include Psychedelic Lava, Chatty Matador, Breezy Thursday and Witness Protection. It is a style that is loved by streetwear enthusiasts, elite runners and art lovers alike.

The Nike React Presto will be available in Australia, here, from May 9 and will retail for $180 AUD.
