For the grand finale of Prada’s four-part cinematic journey with National Geographic CreativeWorks, actress Sadie Sink plunges into the depths of the Great Kelp Highway – an ancient underwater forest stretching along the Pacific coasts of the Americas. The series began with Benedict Cumberbatch guiding viewers through the first two episodes, before Sink took the reins for Episodes 3 and 4. This vast marine ecosystem, teeming with life, has sustained not just sea creatures but human civilisations for centuries.
Joined by marine biologist Giovanni Chimienti and scientist Rodrigo Beas, Sink ventures into the waters of Islas Coronado off Baja California, where the once-thriving kelp forests are now under siege. Climate change, overfishing, and pollution have left their mark, pushing this fragile ecosystem to the brink. Prada’s SEA BEYOND program, in partnership with UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission, aims to turn knowledge into action – educating future generations to protect our oceans before they become a distant memory.
