Ahead of the company’s 50th anniversary, Ralph Lauren returned to his home of Bronx, New York for a historic event. After celebrating American iconography and all-American style for the past five decades, the founder took to the Yankees Stadium to be honoured by his favourite team.

Last week, Lauren was celebrated with a special pre-game home plate ceremony followed by throwing out the ceremonial first pitch against the Red Sox. A fan since a young age, the designer looked up to the Yankees team idolising the likes of Mickey Mantle, and now continues his love for the game.

After, he was asked about his performance.

“I felt like it could have gone a little higher,” he told the New York Post. “I needed one more shot. That’s how I am, I always want to improve.”

To commemorate the event, Ralph Lauren and Major League Baseball have joined forces for a limited-edition Ralph Lauren x Yankees collection. From fan favourites including the New Era baseball cap to the Wilson baseball glove, the collaborative drop will be in high-demand. The collection is now available for purchase on the newly launched Polo App and in limited quantities at the Yankees Team Store on the ground, Ralph Lauren Madison Avenue and Prince Street, as well as the MLBShop.com on September 25.

Currently, the collaboration is only available in the US, but stay tuned for more release dates.
