As the 2020 MTV VMAs kick off live from New York City, nominees and guests are tuning in from all areas of the globe while select celebrities have attended a socially distant red carpet. Off the back of his latest album release, Cool Tape 3, Smith attended the show donned in a thematic look tied back to his album, wearing dirtied jeans, chunky sneakers and a colourful felt blazer. Machine Gun Kelly was seen in a fluorescent pink ensemble with an attempt to bring back the turtleneck vest – we’ll leave whether he succeeded up to you, the reader. Elsewhere, Columbian singer Maluma arrived in dapper style, donned in a double-breasted black suit complete with chunky gold jewellery as The Weeknd wore a signature red suit, black leather gloves and a couple of bloodied black eyes to match – in time for his epic rooftop performance.
