In a moment where global uncertainty continues to ripple across industries, Dubai’s latest dining experience, Siena offers a counterpoint. One of resilience and firmly future facing. The opening of Siena Restaurant Dubai on April 7 in DIFC’s Gate Village is a project rooted in European heritage, reinterpreted for a city that thrives on cultural diversity.

Originally launched in Paris in 2023, Siena arrives in Dubai through a partnership between founder Mehdi Abdelhedi and Rizwan Kassim, the CEO of Paris Society. Kassim’s track record within Paris Society has been defined by shaping some of the French capital’s most recognisable hospitality destinations including Gigi and Giraffe, venues that blur the line between restaurant, nightlife, and cultural hub. Abdelhedi, meanwhile, brings a more personal narrative. His approach to hospitality is rooted in a more personal, almost generational vision. Rather than operating as a large-scale group, Abdelhedi has positioned Siena as an extension of a family-driven philosophy, where service, ambiance, and cuisine are treated as part of a cohesive lifestyle offering.

For its Dubai chapter, Siena also aligns with the city’s broader ecosystem of hospitality innovators, notably the influence of Rikas Hospitality Group. Known for redefining lifestyle dining in the UAE, Rikas has built a portfolio that includes destinations such as Chez Wam, Gohan, Lana Lusa, and Tagomago, each concept distinct, yet unified by a focus on atmosphere, design, quality, and overall enhanced dining experience. Their continued expansion has helped position Dubai not just as a market for imported concepts, but as a curator of hospitality experiences.

Siena fits seamlessly into this narrative. It’s where Parisian polish meets Tuscan warmth. The menu leans into Italian classics, from linguine all’astice to tiramisu, while the interiors, designed by Laleh Amir Assefi, evoke a contemporary palazzo layered with frescoes, marble, and sculptural lighting. With the same design codes of the original location in Paris we expect it will bring the same energy to its new home here in the heart of Dubai.

Yet beyond aesthetics and culinary ambition, openings like Siena carry a broader significance. In a climate where hospitality is often among the first sectors to feel pressure, the decision to launch, thoughtfully and deliberately, signals confidence in the UAE’s long-term trajectory. It underscores Dubai’s role as a stable platform for international operators, and as a city where new concepts are welcomed.

Restaurants like Siena do not exist in isolation, they contribute to the rhythm of the city, shaping how communities connect. As Dubai continues to position itself as a global crossroads, each opening adds another layer to its identity.
