Every city has that one music festival it’s known for, the event that local music fans look forward to every year like clockwork, and for Dubai, that’s Sole DXB. The fan-favourite event returns this December, and three Grammy Award-winning artists will headline for the weekend: Kaytranada on Friday 12 December, Tyla on Saturday 13 December, and Miguel on Sunday 14 December. Three nights, three artists, three distinct interpretations of what global sound means right now.
Since its inception, Sole DXB has built its reputation on more than just the performances it showcases. It has become an ecosystem of culture where music converges with fashion, art, sport, and food, all underpinned by the curatorial voice of its founders. As Rajat Malhotra, Sole DXB Partner, puts it: “At Sole DXB, we program as fans first. This year, we’re proud to bring Kaytranada, Tyla, and Miguel to our Main Stage. Together, this multi-genre trifecta defines the best in contemporary music and is our point of view on where global sound is today.”
For those who’ve danced to his remixes, albums, or unforgettable live sets, the Haitian-born, Montreal-raised producer needs little introduction. Kaytranada’s music feels like a conversation between genres, folding electronic, hip hop, and R&B into something that you can’t easily put a label on, but is instantly recognisable. Tyla’s rise has been nothing short of meteoric. Propelled by “Water” – the amapiano-infused track that became both a streaming phenomenon and a cultural statement – she represents a new era of pop and R&B, rooted in South African rhythm yet expansive enough to resonate across the globe. Closing the weekend is Miguel, an artist who has been shaping modern R&B for over a decade yet refuses to remain in one place. Get ready to sing along to “Sure Thing” and the sensual timelessness of “Adorn”.
Supported by Visit Dubai and hosted at Dubai Design District (d3), Sole DXB promises a programme that extends well beyond the headline sets.
