Not since that pixelated video of Emily Ratajkowski and Harry Styles making out behind a van in Tokyo has the zeitgeist been so enamoured by footage of two celebrities engaging in public displays of affection.

So when Taylor Swift was filmed running into the arms of her new boyfriend, Travis Kelce, after a performance of the Eras Tour, a collective sense of bedlam erupted across social media.

If you chose this past weekend as the moment to take an online detox, you wouldn’t have seen the footage of Swift and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end celebrating the concert with a post-show kiss. Or, the mass hysteria that the filmed private moment generated after being widely circulated by netizens.

In the videos, Swift can be seen waving to fans while exiting backstage after her sold-out show in Argentina. Though, the second she got off-stage she ran with excitement to Kelce before wrapping her hands around his neck and leaning in for a kiss.

Watch the sweet moment below:

Naturally, Traylor’s (the sobriquet Swifties have dubbed the couple) first public kiss was always going to generate a frenzy. However, given the unexpectedly romantic nature of the private exchange, it only exacerbated fans’ “shipping” of the pair.

Many Swifties have been quick to point out that the songstress’ candidness with Kelce in public is well overdue after keeping her past relationships, including with her recent long-term ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn, extremely private.

Now, Swift is happily taking her boyfriend on the road with her, and even subtly shouting him out in songs by changing the lyrics to feature him. Indeed, the kiss wasn’t the only surprise Swift had in store for Kelce, or her fans.

During the closing song of the set, “Karma,” Swift adjusted a lyric in the bridge to call out her new beau. While the original lyrics read: “Karma is the guy on the screen / Coming straight home to me,” the 33-year-old sang: “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs / Coming straight home to me,” referencing his NFL team.

Is Kelce’s Swift end game? If so, it’s been a long time coming…
