The Macallan is doing so by bridging its rich past with a forward-looking vision through the release of the TIME: SPACE COLLECTION. This commemorative release features two whiskies, each reflecting the distillery’s heritage and future aspirations, marking a significant milestone as The Macallan turns 200 years young.
At the heart of the TIME: SPACE COLLECTION is the astonishing TIME: SPACE, an 84-year-old single malt whisky. This release represents the oldest whisky ever crafted by The Macallan, inviting enthusiasts to experience a unique taste of history to the very beginnings of the brand. Housed alongside it is a single malt from the brand’s new distillery, representing a leap into the future.
Both expressions in the collection symbolise The Macallan’s dedication to preserving the environment while embracing its legacy. The unique design of the packaging serves as a visual metaphor for time travel, merging elements of the past with those of the future. Each of the 200 bottles produced—one for every year of The Macallan’s history—captures the essence of time itself, embodying a spirit enriched by generations of craftsmanship.
The TIME: SPACE whisky is encased in a beautifully designed vessel divided into two chambers. The outer chamber contains the 1940 vintage, a whisky aged for an extraordinary 84 years in meticulously selected casks—one first-fill American Oak Butt and one second-fill European Oak Butt, both seasoned with sherry in Jerez de la Frontera. This remarkable aging process imparts a rich natural colour and a depth of flavour that speaks to The Macallan’s storied past.
In contrast, the central chamber features a 2018 vintage, marking the first whisky released from The Macallan’s new distillery. This release signifies a pivotal moment for the brand, as it transitions into a new era while maintaining the quality and character that whisky lovers have come to expect.

The second expression, TIME: SPACE Mastery, celebrates the craftsmanship that has defined The Macallan over the last two centuries. This unique single malt, created from 14 exceptional cask types, showcases a complex layering of flavours and aromas.
