Handbags have historically been the perfect accessory assigned to women, that is, until late last year. Towards the end of 2025 especially, our favourite male celebrities have been major promoters for the ‘man-bag’. People began to take note of Travis Scott’s impressive array of Hermès HAC 40 Birkins and Travis Kelce, LeBron James, and Lewis Hamilton’s designer game-day duffels. The push for the normalisation of men wearing bags was championed by global design houses like Louis Vuitton, Prada, and Dior, who pursued the design of men’s travel and sling bags. Quickly, however, male fashion icons, musicians, actors, and athletes have begun to appreciate the craftsmanship and status of iconic handbags such as the Hermès Kelly worn recently by Timothée Chalamet, the classic Goyard printed duffel bag sported by David Beckham, and Jacob Elordi’s envy-worthy collection of Bottega purses.
A prominent advocate for this trend has been Pharrell Williams, a fashion style icon who was appointed the role of Louis Vuittons’ Men’s Creative Director in 2023. Soon after his career at the French fashion house began, he reimagined one of the brand’s most iconic bags and designed his own “Millionaire Speedy,” which garnered global attention at its jaw-dropping Million Dollar price tag.
