No rest for the wicked. While the stars in Hollywood have been out in abundance this past week to toast their performances across film and television, the latter category’s biggest name will soon gather to celebrate the best on the small screen at the 75th annual Emmy Awards.

Television’s night of nights will finally occur after a historic postponement from late September last year. A shift that coincided with the SAG-AFTRA writers and actors strike to stand in solidarity with union members picketing for better pay and working conditions, as well as contracts that include provisions on artificial intelligence, streaming giants and digital residuals. Now, at the Peacock Theater in Downtown Los Angeles, the actors who captivated us with their binge-worthy limited series and after-work comfort watches will fete the internationally lauded productions that captured the zeitgeist.

It’s unusual that the Emmys take place in January, with the show only previously moved from its regular September time slot once in the ceremony’s 75-year history. This alteration has meant that not only have the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards respectively indicated who will walk home with a trophy, but it will also be the last time many of our favourite ensembles will gather as a cast. With Succession and The White Lotussecond season both off the air, this ceremony will provide a bittersweet opportunity to bid farewell to the actors and actresses who entertained us through precocious times.

Ahead, everything to know about the 75th annual Emmys, including where to watch television’s illustrious evening (from your own TV, of course).
