Hotels have always been more than just places to sleep; they’re where stories, culture, and creativity come to life. The Abu Dhabi EDITION takes this idea and runs with it, blending art, design, and a dash of Emirati heritage to create a space that feels like its own masterpiece. It’s the first EDITION property in the Middle East, and honestly? It’s a stunner.

Perched on the Al Bateen Peninsula, this hotel is all about the views — think sparkling Gulf waters and a yacht-filled marina. But it’s not just about what’s outside. The building itself, dreamed up by the architectural wizards at H.O.K., is a modern ode to the traditional dhow boat with its sweeping, sail-like curves. Inside, Wimberly Interiors worked their magic to balance slick, contemporary vibes with touches that celebrate Emirati culture.

And then there’s the art. Step into the five-story lobby and you’ll be greeted by a kinetic installation from Studio Drift, where glass cylinders seem to flutter mid-air like they’re on the verge of flight – it’s mesmerising. Just one floor down, there’s a jet-black marble water feature with angular edges that mirror the building’s footprint. The guestrooms feature black-and-white photographs of sand dunes by Brett Weston — think serene, minimalist, and oh-so-elegant. Every detail feels intentional, from the grey oak floors to the off-white marble bathrooms. It’s the kind of room where you immediately feel at ease.

But let’s talk showstoppers: the Braided Arm Chair. Created by Emirati designer Latifa Saeed, this piece is all about rethinking tradition. Made from cotton tubes, synthetic filling, and teak wood, the chair uses braiding techniques to challenge how we see traditional crafts. It’s equal parts heritage and innovation.

And just when you think you’ve seen it all, the hotel hits you with more. Portraits by artist Afshin Pirhashemi line the walls, each one diving deep into the complexities of modern life. Pirhashemi’s photorealist style feels both haunting and captivating, and knowing he’s been celebrated at places like the Tehran Biennial makes it even cooler.

The Abu Dhabi EDITION is a carefully crafted fusion of art, design, and culture that feels fresh, welcoming, and totally unforgettable.
