The announcement of A$AP Rocky’s Under Amour collab was originally leaked back in April of this year, and after almost four months of speculations and rumours, the artist took the opportunity to tease the drop on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah. From speaking about Testing to his AWGE collective, this was a tell-all interview for the Grammy nominee.
In true Rocky nature, he turned up to the interview sporting a relaxed blazer ensemble, printed t-shirt and a yellow bandana wrapped around his head. Towards the end of the interview, at the six-minute mark, A$AP Rocky gifted Noah a pair of his collaborative Under Armour sneakers, also revealing its official availability slated in September. Noah said, “I grew up in world where I’d wear shoes after people,” and then turning to the audience he happily expressed, “and now I’m wearing before all of y’all!”
According to the leak on Dexter Navy’s Instagram stories – the creative director and film maker of some of Rocky’s most recent film clips – the collaboration will be reminiscent to the Under Amour Osiris D3 2001. With a chunky silhouette, mesh and overlapping panels, the sneakers will pay tribute to the trending aesthetic of the ’90s.
