Nothing unites people quite like a shared passion, and on January 9th, ICON MENA and L’ÉCOLE Middle East created an evening that celebrated just that—bringing together enthusiasts of artistry, history, and the human connection that jewelry sparks. The event was an exclusive cocktail soirée that gave its intimate crowd a chance to explore the dazzling world of men’s rings, a theme brought to life by L’ÉCOLE’s exhibition, Men’s Rings, Yves Gastou Collection.
The gathering, which attracted jewelry lovers and industry creatives alike, exuded a warm, inviting atmosphere. The dress code was simple: wear your most unique rings, which paved the way for plenty stories to be shared, and memories to be revisited.
Guests were not only able to admire the rings up close but were also treated to an insightful panel discussion. Victor Gastou, the collector behind the exhibition, and Dr. David Usiesto Cabrera, an esteemed art historian and lecturer at L’ÉCOLE, delved into the cultural and historical significance of men’s rings. Moderated by Tamim Mortaza, Creative Director at ITP Media, the discussion explored how rings are not just pieces of jewelry, but reflections of masculinity, identity, and personal history.
The centrepiece of the evening was the Men’s Rings, Yves Gastou Collection exhibition—an extraordinary showcase of over 700 rings amassed by the late French collector and antique art dealer Yves Gastou over a span of 40 years. Each ring represents a unique aspect of history, art, and craftsmanship, curated under five main themes: History, Gothic, Christian Mysticism, Vanitas, and Eclecticism. These themes served as portals into Yves Gastou’s eclectic and passionate world, offering visitors an immersive experience that went far beyond the surface of the rings themselves.
For those interested in exploring the exhibition, it will run until April 26, 2025. Free registration is available on L’ÉCOLE’s website, where visitors can immerse themselves in this rare and fascinating collection, uniting passion and heritage one ring at a time.
