Dries Van Noten made his Paris runway debut in 1991. Over the weekend, on a sparkling silver runway, he took his final bow. Although he will continue to provide guidance to his design teams from a distance, the 66-year-old Van Noten is stepping down from the daily creative direction of his brand to enjoy a fresh chapter in his life.
The Men’s Spring/Summer 2025 showcase features silhouettes that bridge classical and innovative ideas, showcasing craftsmanship and vibrant colours. The collection includes pieces using Suminagashi, an ancient Japanese print technique, displaying large graphic leaves and flowers. The range features many genderless pieces, embracing the joy, freedom, and uninhibited nature of fashion for all audiences. Dries Van Noten remarks,
“It’s all one big happy world, and everybody can wear whatever they want.”*
Reflecting on his collection and tenure, Van Noten shared, “This is my 129th show; like the previous ones, it looks ahead. I think about how Marcelo Mastroianni once spoke of a paradoxical ‘Nostalgia del futuro,’ beyond the lost paradises imagined by Proust, and how we continue to pursue our dreams knowing that, at some point, we can look back on them with love.”
