In a near miss that could have rivalled Austin Butler and Vanessa Hudgens’ awkward post-Oscars run in, Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde were spotted at the same gym in Los Angeles on April 12 – a mere two hours apart.
The former couple – who dated for almost two years and have been separated now for nearly six months – were both spotted exiting Tracy Anderson’s hotspot gym in Studio City on the same day.
As someone who sifts through images of celebrity sightings every morning, I can confirm Wilde, 39, is at this same gym almost every day. The “As It Was” singer – and his team – would likely know this, and be aware that the probability of a run-in with his ex would almost be imminent. (I also love how it looks as though he is whistling in this picture, as if to say, “there’s nothing to see here!”)
If said run-in had have happened – and there is every possibility it may have inside the gym itself – we’re imagining it might have been a little awkward. Styles, 29, was most recently spotted in a passionate embrace with model, author and podcast host Emily Ratajkowski in the streets of Tokyo. It was later speculated that the pair had been in fact dating for a couple of months.
“Harry has always been very attracted to Emily,” a source told US Weekly. “Emily isn’t looking for anything serious. She’s just trying to live her best single life and have fun.”
In an odd twist, Ratajkowski was photographed with Wilde at the Vanity Fair Oscars after party on March 12.
Styles and Wilde were first linked on the set of Don’t Worry, Darling). The wildly controversial hook-up was rumoured to be at the centre of Wilde and leading lady Florence Pugh’s relationship breakdown, a narrative which came to a head at last year’s Venice International Film Festival. While present at the premiere of the film in Venice, Pugh did not partake in the press conference, an incredibly rare decision for the main star of a project.
In an interview with Vogue in December 2021, Wilde noted that she was “happier than ever” with many contributing that to her relationship with the singer.
“I think what you realise is that when you’re really happy, it doesn’t matter what strangers think about it,” she said. “All that matters to you is what’s real, and what you love, and who you love.”
Wilde is currently embroiled in an ugly and ongoing custody battle with her former fiancé and father of her two children Jason Sudekis. Recently, the actress and director’s earnings were revealed in court, and then leaked to the press.
