It was dubbed as the ‘biggest update ever’, we went as far as to describe Apple’s latest iOS 14 software update as “like having a brand new phone”. While we marvelled over a fresh new home screen interface and impressive multi-tasking, there was one feature no one seemed to talk about, or even notice – and it’s a game changer.

Introducing the secret ‘button’ or more accurately, the ‘Back Tap’. Available on even the oldest of phones down to the iPhone 8 (although not all phones will be able to support the feature), a touch-sensitive component has been added to prompt your handset to do a number of different things.

To enable the advancement, visit Settings > Accessibility > Touch and scroll down to Back Tap. Once you’ve switched it on, you can change what it can assist you with including screenshots, volume control and lock screen with a double or triple tap. The below phones are compatible with Back Tap.
