At the beginning of 2020, Louis Vuitton announced a multi-year partnership with the NBA where Virgil Abloh would design a range of apparel and accessories. Off the back of the monogram travel Larry O’Brien Trophy case, it appears the collaborative duo are moving into footwear. When I first heard of the rumoured kicks, I imagined something like this, but instead a new leak suggests something entirely different.

Shared via multimedia company, Saint, images reveal a sand-colour, low-top, suede boot reminiscent of the Louis Vuitton creeper. Taking on a refined hiking boot-cross-Air Jordan vibe, the rumoured look shows monograms flowers stamped into the midsole, gold co-branding on the insole and the NBA logo found embossed on the tongue and featured on a rubber swing tag.

To be honest, it is not what we expected. But the luxe approach makes for a much wearable collaborative effort – we’re into it. Louis Vuitton nor the NBA have verified if the style is in fact the real deal and when we might be able to expect the first drop. Nevertheless, stay tuned.
