The Nike Air Max 97 has already seen a slew of iterations this year as the silhouette continues to gain popularity and while sneaker heads flipped over the metallic colourway earlier in 2018, the sporting powerhouse has decided to go one step further. Teaming up with Swarovski, its latest rendition has seen the classic silhouette wrapped in 50,000 Swarovski crystals.

Featuring a gold, mesh upper and its quintessential Air Max sole, the three waves normally seen on the 97 model has been replaced with Swarovski crystals, all accented with a red “Swoosh”. Contrasting the tonal gold is a white and black midsole, breaking up the glitter for a more wearable approach.

Teased earlier this month, the unique design was initially unveiled by Ava Nirui, aka @avanope via her Instagram page and with speculations as to whether it would be available to the public, Nike has just announced a release date. Set to hit the Nike website from December 26, 10:00 am (US EST), get in the mood for New Years Eve and cop some of the glitter, here.

And while you’re at it, make it a full set and enter our competition for a chance to win a bespoke Swarovski Basketball hoop valued at $2,500.
