Revisiting its sporting roots, Perry Ellis International has partnered with MATCHESFASHION.COM for a fresh capsule. Relaunching its famed sub-label, the company has announced the return of Perry Ellis America, first founded in 1984, the original collection has received a modern update with bold pieces and wardrobe staples to work into your daily kit.
A look back to archive clothing, the collection includes a range classic pieces recognisable to the OG fan with styles including nylon tracksuits, washed denim, colour blocked outerwear and logo-heavy fleeces and t-shirts. With quality casual-wear at the forefront, the collection rooted in ’90s sportswear has seen a revival with technical fabrics, offering off-duty dressing for the masses.
“Perry Ellis America was Perry’s answer to his personal need for true, weekend casual wear. Rooted in denim, it [Perry Ellis America] still had the true sportswear handwriting of his collection, but was meant to tie back to jeans,” says Michael Maccari, Creative Director of Perry Ellis. “As it evolved in the ’90s. At that time, logo-heavy tracksuits, anoraks, and sporty outerwear were staples of the line; and that was a departure for the brand. The new Perry Ellis America establishes a true casual collection and helps to reinforce our history and our foundation in the same way that it did for Perry with the first launch.”
A key influence in the relaunch of the label, MATCHESFASHION.COM are always looking to expand its offering. “At MATCHESFASHION.COM we constantly look to update our menswear offer with new and established brands from around the globe,” expressed Damien Paul, Head of Menswear for the site. “The relaunch of Perry Ellis America is such an exciting project that we’re delighted to be a part of.
