If you’re a savvy follower of the design movements from Reebok, then you would be aware of its modern innovations as well as its beloved classic sneakers – most notably the Club C and Classic Leather. But what happens when you combine the best of both its world into one, hype-worthy style? Announced this week, the Classic Leather Legacy, of course.

Dubbed as an ‘easy-to-wear retro-running inspired lifestyle silhouette’, the Classic Leather Legacy takes cues from a bygone era of running and reimagines it for the next generation, creating this on-trend modern classic. The result is a tried and true rubber outsole is mixed with a voluminously injected moulded midsole, a modern cutline and a contrasted (in colour & texture) heel counter. The upper is a mixture of materials crafted from nylon ripstop, suede and leather. The initial 70s-inspired colourways speak to the past era of Reebok’s original Racing Club. And the details that round out this model offers a 3D Reebok window box and Union Jack. As well as a modern woven Reebok Classics tongue label with TPU translucent film execution, hits of reflectivity and a speed-lacing system.

Born from the aesthetic of Reebok in the late ’70s and early ’80s, the effortless silhouette nods to the Aztec, a racing shoe from 1979 and the Classic Leather, an athleisure runner from 1983. Keeping this collective history in mind, Reebok’s product and design teams leveraged their imagination, research and insights to fuel Classic Leather Legacy’s modern design appeal for today.
For the Classic Leather Legacy campaign, Reebok tapped a collective of emerging creatives to generate a range of unique imagery. These trailblazers were provided the shoe and the prompt: “Your legacy isn’t what you leave behind, it’s what you create now” to construct a unique story centred around the new shoe.
The Reebok Classic Leather Legacy is available now, here. This is just the beginning for the new style, with special releases and collaborations planned for 2020 and 2021. Stay tuned.
