Happy Earth Day to all. First celebrated in 1970, the annual event aims to provide education and a catalyst for worldwide activism surrounding climate change. Since the birth of social media, the Earth Day Network has grown and with celebrities and online personalities doing their part, brands are also backing the initiative. Coinciding with April 22, artist and cartoonist Steven Harrington has joined Nike for a collaborative capsule.

04.22.19 🌎 Available soon. My Flyleather collaboration with @Nike will be available on the Nike SNKRS app this coming Monday at 7:00am PST. I’m so happy with how this project turned out: not just because of how clean the artwork printed… or because of how much I’m in love w Nike… But because the whole collection is made out of recycled materials that would have otherwise been sent to landfills. ♻️ I’m really excited to be a part of the future of fashion/function. I also keep getting asked about the colors we used on the collection – I pulled swatches of custom mixed paint directly from the paint colors I used for the “Magic Hour” exhibition. Sea foam greens, misty purples and sunset corals… Swipe for more.👉🏽 And last, I just wanted to thank the whole Nike team for all the awesome work on this project- It really took a big team to make this project happen and I can’t thank u enough! I’m so excited to release this project w u all…🍾

Known for his vibrant and playful artworks which feature signature dog and palm tree characters, the designs have made its way from the canvas to a series of Nike silhouettes. Taking to the Air Force 1, Cortez and Blazer models, Steven Harrington has emblazoned his pop artwork onto white renditions, incorporating the earth motif throughout. Ensuring an environmentally friendly product, the Steven Harrington x Nike Flyleather collection is also made with at least 50% recycled leather fibre.

Harrington says, “I think Earth Day Every Day, to me is really just a friendly reminder. It’s a reminder that every little bit counts.”

The collaboration is slated to launch today, and will be available via the Nike SNKRS app, retailing from $80 USD.
