A chandelier glimmered overhead, red light washed over the room, and guests left with black roses in hand. The ICON Party that was held on Thursday, October 23, at Rose Bar, Delano Dubai, celebrated Edition 07: Unearthed and the introduction of Kevin Breen as Editor-in-Chief, successfully set the tone for the magazine’s next stage.
Inside Rose Bar’s dim and moody interiors, tinted in shades of red, the atmosphere carried the night. Guests from across Dubai’s creative, fashion, and cultural scenes came together to mark the title’s next chapter and, more importantly, the building of an ICON MENA community.
During the evening, Kevin took the opportunity to thank his beloved team, reflecting on the spirit of Issue 07: Unearthed, which he fondly describes as “a tribute to discovery and the power of digging deeper into archives, into art, into land, into personal memory, into cultural histories that have been obscured, redacted, stolen, or simply neglected. To unearth is to bring something buried back into light.”
The event was hosted in collaboration with The League, a curated lifestyle app for driven individuals who know what they want. Bringing together entrepreneurs, creatives, and innovators, it connects people with purpose and ambition. A perfect match for ICON MENA, both brands celebrate culture, spark conversation, and unite a community of like-minded changemakers.
Drinks were poured courtesy of Chivas Regal, whose signature blends made sure that no glass stayed empty for long, while Darcey Events brought a striking touch with black roses that added to the bar’s already edgy setting, and a touch that the guests left chattering about.
The night began with DJ 1takennandos playing, whose mix of house, R&B, and grooves set the tone and pulled the attendees to the dance floor. Later, DJ Ramesses took over, carrying the night well past midnight.
When the music finally slowed and the last glass was raised, the party may have come to an end but it felt like a new beginning for the title, one that coincides with what ICON MENA is all about, a collision of culture, starting conversation and building a community.
