Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce both experienced home break-ins last month, according to a report from CBS affiliate KCTV5. Police were called to Kelce’s Kansas home in Leawood on October 8 to investigate a reported burglary, though law enforcement has not confirmed further details due to privacy policies. A police report indicates that $20,000 in cash was taken from Kelce’s residence, though this figure is only confirmed by TMZ at this point.
Just a couple of days earlier, on October 6, police were dispatched to Mahomes’ property in Loch Lloyd, Missouri, for another break-in call shortly after midnight, KCTV5 reports. In a statement during a press conference, Mahomes called the break-in “frustrating” and “disappointing,” noting that investigations are still ongoing.
The break-ins followed an October 7 Chiefs game against the New Orleans Saints, after which the team had a bye week, leaving players with extra downtime.
Kelce’s privacy concerns have been growing in recent months. In May, he shared on the New Heights podcast with his brother, Jason Kelce, that after his home address was leaked online, he received a flood of unwanted mail. Kelce even had to ask the post office to stop deliveries to regain some control over his privacy. In February, Jason also mentioned on Shaquille O’Neal’s podcast that Kelce had moved for safety reasons due to the increased public interest in his personal life, especially since his relationship with Taylor Swift became public.
More updates to come as the story develops.
