Situated on the Mediterranean island of Ibiza, sits the infamous nightclub DC-10, which houses the Circolocco night. One of the best parties in the world, the colourful history of the party scene has been remembered in a new collection from Virgil Abloh. An addition to the Off-White brand, the founder took to Instagram, teasing what appears to be a snippet of fresh new threads.

The reason the designer chose the spot for his new collection stems from its history. The infamous Circolocco nights begun in July 1999 by two Italian promoters, Andrea Pelino and Antonio who decided to create a place where people could carry on after the 24-hour Sunday sessions at Space had ended. The club was founded in a former airplane hanger located at the end of the runway, on the south-east end of the island. Named after the DC-10 aircraft that took partygoers to the venue, the new nightclub provided a heaven for people who wanted to continue drinking well into the early hours of Monday morning.

The space housed mainly non-mainstream European DJs and as the club became increasingly popular, artists such as Danny Tenaglia, Sasha, Steve Lawler and Pete Tong were offering to play the club for free. Other than the high-profile DJ’s that were playing at the time, DC-10’s success came from the underground feel the club took on, different to the corporate and clean-cut identities of Space, Amnesia, Privilege Ibiza, and Pacha.

As with all popular nightclub, DC-10 ran into legal troubles in 2007, after it was caught breaching the terms of the licence and in 2009, the club was hit with a fine of over €300,000 EUR. A year later they re-opened with its Circolocco nights every Monday, and in 2017 DC-10 was nominated for Club of the Year at the Electronic Music Awards.

Circoloco nights became famous worldwide, even opening up in Tokyo. It was this legendary history that seems to have inspired Virgil Abloh to create a capsule collection dedicated to DC-10. It is not confirmed if the collection will be open to the general public, but its a good enough reason to check out Ibiza for yourself.

Stay tuned for any updates on the potential release.
