Introducing your mid-week pick-me-up: Yoyoka Soma playing the drums to Led Zeppelin‘s “Good Times Bad Times”. Despite being only 8 years-old, Yoyoka has mastered what many experienced drummers cannot – the next John Bonham has just been discovered.
Learning the drums since the early age of 2, the young prodigy took inspiration from Bonham for her entry into ‘Hit Like A Girl 2018’ and since then, the video has gone viral. Barely reaching the base pedal, Yoyoka shows incredible control and precision with a killer attitude to match. Playing live from just 4 years-old, she has played on more than 100 stages with her family band, Kaneaiyoyoka.
“As a drummer, I enjoy being groove, tones and try to support vocalists carefully. My dream is to be the best drummer in the world. In addition, I want to be an artist who can do anything: playing all instruments, recording music, mixing the sound and designing the CD album jackets,” she said in a statement accompanying the video. “As I am aiming at overseas activities, I am studying English conversation. I want to become friends with people all over the world through my musical activities!”
