It is probably the most glamorous evening on the fashion calendar. Ushering the who’s-who in the fashion, film and music industry an invite to the respected event is not easy to come by. Unless you’ve got a spare $30,000 for a table and are of course, approved by Vogue’s Anna Wintour.

The event also turns into a thunder-stealing show in some respects as many A-listers look to out-dress the other. But it was last year’s ‘Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and The Catholic Imagination’ theme that had a marriage proposal steal focus from heavily-embellished gowns and angel wings. Apparently the red carpet is the perfect place to make a very public gesture and luckily for 2 Chainz and partner Kesha Ward, it was perfect timing.

Making their way up the carpet – both dressed head-to-toe in Versace – the rapper took his knee before proposing to his long-time girlfriend. She looked glistening in a white gown as the offer was reciprocated with unwavering joy. The pair often referred to each other in the past as “wife” and “hubby” so expectedly some onlookers were confused. Nevertheless, its something the internet will surely never forget.

Shortly after in August of the same year, the happy couple were wed in Miami.

Rumours circulating the internet also suggest that Donald Trump proposed to Melania in 2004, though no proof has yet been found. Speaking of the President, the two regulars of the Met Gala ball have been reportedly refused attendance and according to Wintour will not return.

The 2019 Met Gala red carpet will air in Australia on Foxtel’s E! Channel on Tuesday May 7 AEST. It will also be streamed via E! News and on US Vogue’s Facebook page. Stay tuned for ongoing coverage come the big day.
