As San Diego’s Comic-Con wrapped up on the weekend, the world received a slew of newly released trailers of films to look forward to in the next 12 months. A stand-out from the festival included a first look into the DC Extended Universe, Aquaman. Announcing the release, star Jason Momoa bellyflopped from a cliff in anticipation.

Supporting the main character in the new film, Amber Heard will play Atlantean warrior Mera, Patrick Wilson as Aquaman’s villainous half-brother, Orm, and Nicole Kidman as their mother, Queen Atlanna.

Directed by James Wan, Aquaman will reveal “the origin story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry and takes him on the journey of his lifetime—one that will not only force him to face who he really is, but to discover if he is worthy of who he was born to be…a king.” A different tone to the usual DC films, the trailer shows a magical underwater fantasia, and is comparably lighter than previous movies.

Set to drop in cinemas on December 19, watch the trailer below.
