SANTA MONICA, CALIFORNIA – JUNE 15: Noah Centineo accepts the Best Breakthrough Performance award for ‘To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before’ onstage during the 2019 MTV Movie and TV Awards at Barker Hangar on June 15, 2019 in Santa Monica, California. (Photo by Kevin Winter/Getty Images for MTV)

Taking to the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, the MTV Movie & TV Awards lit up the city as guests including the likes of Brie Larson, Noah Centineo and Jaden Smith made their way across the red carpet last night. Despite reports suggesting a loss in ratings, the star-studded event recognised film and television not normally seen on the line up of other big-name ceremonies, such as the Oscars.

Truth be told, the winners list at this year’s MTV Movie & TV Awards comes as no surprise. 2018 and 2019 have been huge for film and television as fan favourite series such as Avengers: Endgame and Game of Thrones wrapped up. A Star Is Born was another legendary production as iconic duo Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper made headlines for a captivating performance, while streaming platforms including Netflix continually raise the bar for original film and television series’.

As expected, Avengers, GOT and A Star Is Born swept the floor with Robert Downey JR. and Josh Brolin awarded Best Hero and Villain respectively, Game of Thrones took out Best Show and Lady Gaga nabbed Best Performance in a Movie. Other winners included Netflix rom-com To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before and Bird Box.
