If there’s one thing Beckham can bend, it’s the changing tides of familial alliances.
David and Victoria Beckham have stepped out today in London in a rare family appearance, with England’s contemporary King and Queen of style joined by all four of their children (plus their oldest sons’, Brooklyn and Romeo, respective partners Nicola Peltz and Mia Regan), to celebrate the premiere of the family patriarch’s new Netflix documentary Beckham.
The new documentary chronicles the former English football captain’s nascent rise through the ranks of the premier league to become one of the world’s greatest soccer players. It also touches on how his rumoured affairs affected his marriage with Victoria who calls the period of time “the most unhappy I have ever been in my entire life.” On the red carpet, however, the Beckhams displayed no signs of the friction, even the ones the press have perpetually reported since Brooklyn, 24, wed Nicola, 28, in her family’s Florida estate in 2021.
Clearly, the former Spice Girls’ recent Spring/Summer 2024 collection presentation in Paris Fashion Week left the Beckham brood in high spirits. A mode that was reflected sartorially, too.
Taking to the step-and-repeat at Mayfair’s The Curzon cinema, Posh and Becks sauntered down the red carpet in matching Saville Row-approved suits in matching monochromatic colours. This spirit of ‘power couple’ dressing was carried through by the next generation of Beckhams as well.
The newlyweds Brooklyn and Nicola opted for slinky tailoring, with the neophyte chef wearing a slouchy tuxedo and the American actress sporting a skin-tight burgundy blazer dress.
For burgeoning fashion ‘It’ couple Romeo and Mia, whom you may know better by her Instagram handle ‘Mimi Moocher’, the pair took a more classic approach to red carpet dressing in an avant-garde chocolate suit with asymmetrical fixings and a timeless black slip.
A similar silhouette was also sported by David and Victoria’s youngest and only daughter, 12-year-old Harper Seven. A soon-to-be fashion mainstay in her own right, Harper looked to an A-line dress in a pastel pink colourway, completing her look with the VB Chain bag from her mother’s eponymous label.
Cruz, 18, kept things casual in a pair of pleated trousers and a short-sleeved button-up, which he wore open to reveal a white shirt underneath.
Save for the bi-annual family photos taken at Victoria’s runway shows, this is the first time we’ve seen all members of the Beckham family together and in such close quarters in a very long time. And with the family continuing the celebrations at the premiere afterparty at the nearby ritzy restaurant and private member’s club The Twenty Two, it’s clear that this won’t be the last we see of their united front.
Perhaps the family may have gotten the reality bug and are vying for a new docuseries about their lives. Posh & Becks + The Six is a show we’d sign up for.
Beckham will stream on Netflix on October 4. watch the trailer below.
