Ahh, it is that time of year again. Whether you’re a film buff or not, much of the internet circles around the annual Academy Awards for all the glitz, glamour, drama and controversy surrounding the lauded event. Direct from Hollywood, the 92nd Oscars took to the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles to house the very best in film as well as red carpet fashion. Attendees include Brad Pitt, Spike Lee, Timothée Chalamet and Billy Porter, and while champagne is poured and celebrities mingle among themselves, the real party appears to be on Twitter, where a specific community of self-dubbed comedians and meme-makers are harbouring all the fun.

Like the much-discussed year of 2019, there is no host to be seen, instead, funny quips and political agendas have been served from the likes of Natalie Portman and her Dior cape as well as a photobomb from Chalamet and the glowing Margot Robbie. But if it weren’t turned into a meme did it even really happen? If you’re here merely for laughs, there is no better way to view all the happenings from the 2020 Academy Awards than on Twitter.
