At midnight eastern time in the US die-hard fans and insomniacs alike will gather virtually on social media for the release of Beyoncé‘s latest single “Break My Soul”. The Grammy-winning artist surprised fans when she wiped her social media to announce the new track which appears to be the sixth track from her highly-anticipated album, Renaissance

It is the singer’s first single since 2021 when she released “Be Alive” for the award-winning film King Richard and prior to that, in 2020 for “BLACK PARADE”. The forthcoming album – set to be unveiled in two parts and will release from July 29 – is her first studio project since 2016 when she dropped Lemonade to critical acclaim. Just five weeks to go!

The 40-year-old teased the possibility of new music since last year. In an interview with Harpers Bazaar she hinted at a new project, saying, “With all the isolation and injustice over the past year, I think we are all ready to escape, travel, love, and laugh again,” Queen Bey said. “I feel a renaissance emerging, and I want to be part of nurturing that escape in any way possible. I’ve been in the studio for a year and a half.”

She added, “Sometimes it takes a year for me to personally search through thousands of sounds to find just the right kick or snare. One chorus can have up to 200 stacked harmonies. Still, there’s nothing like the amount of love, passion, and healing that I feel in the recording studio. After 31 years, it feels just as exciting as it did when I was nine years old. Yes, the music is coming!”

The announcement last week coincided with a cover interview where she explained that the pandemic had allowed her extra time to work on the album. There are also rumours that a Destiny’s Child reunion could be on the horizon.
