After a stellar awards season donned billowing gowns and floating capes, Billy Porter is by far one of the most notable attendees on any red carpet when it comes to androgynous style. Once again, the Pose star is obliterating conventions with his latest role. Announced today, the actor and style icon will play the Fairy Godmother in Sony’s adaption of Cinderella.

Appearing at a Q+A in New York overnight, the 50-year-old actor confirmed the news after being in talks with the film house for some time now as it continues to compete against Disney – Disney released a live-action adaption in 2015. Joining the actor, it has also been announced that Camila Cabello will play the iconic part of Cinderella and is reportedly creating music for the forthcoming movie.

Kay Canon (Blockers) is slated to direct the film which is reportedly coined Rebel/Dreamer: A New Type of Cinderella from an off-the-cuff idea from James Corden and will join the crew as producer.

Elsewhere the Emmy winner is rumoured to voice the lead, Audrey II, in a Warner Bros remake of Little Shop of Horrors, according to ColliderStay tuned for further developments.
