Currently, the US Government is in disarray. President Donald Trump is playing the blame game as he and the Republican party attempt to repair the damage of public confidence following COVID-19. During these times, it is usual to see Cardi B on her seasonal Instagram rant. From social media and mental health, to past government shutdowns and rising tensions with Iran and the US, the Bodak Yellow rapper has shared her political views and seen support from the Democratic party in the past. Now, it’s been taken one step further – an Instagram live with Bernie Sanders.

Last week, Bernie Sanders dropped out of the 2020 presidential race, yet he promised his work towards a better America would not stop. Cardi did not hold back in an emotional interview with the politician over social media, questioning Sanders on his choice to endorse Biden and on Trump’s handling of the pandemic.

“I hope that all the viewers have a better understanding of what’s going on.” Cardi B first said. She then asked, “A lot of people like the youth, they don’t rock with Joe Biden, because he’s conservative. I want you to explain to my platform, why are you endorsing him?”
Sanders vowed to “work with Joe”, to make him more progressive, raising the minimum wage, cancelling student debt, and moving him in the “right direction” on immigration and criminal justice reform.
Cardi B continued to speak on the pandemic holding back tears, with Sanders in complete support. She is far more than a celebrity using her platform to spread her political views. In fact, she is representing the people, the minority in particular.
